I cannot recommend this book highly enough It's literally proving to be a lifesaver for me I'd been feeling crushed by the weight of grief and fear over the state of our world and this book has brought me back some balance and hope Its simple but profound teachings on cultivating bodhichitta are the perfect antidote to the overhwhelm triggered by the huge unprecedented and simply insoluble challenges we face Thank you Pema for being in this world and for sharing your wisdom and yourself so honestly and with such heart

A lovely writing style with personal examples where the way has not gone smoothly Sometimes I stop reading books like this half way through; not this one right through to the end and will likely read again Encouraging for further practice

I have read a number of Pema's books during the past few years and have to confess that her style can be a touch that of a schoolmistress in that she does expect you to do things that are at times impossible given what you are going through and your capabilities at the time Here however I believe she is in her eighties she seems much softer gentle and so much aware that we cannot achieve what seasoned practitioners manage after decades of practice Here she puts her arm around you and like a mother or grandmother gently and lovingly imparts her wisdom encouraging you and filling you with hope I found this book to be one of my favourite books on Buddhism and I have read loads of them I am sure you will not be disappointed only encouraged in your journey through life
