An excellent reference book for anyone studying 1st year psychology this book gives succinct information in digestible chunks I use it as a way to get an overview of a particular theory psychologist or experiment before doing in depth study and I think it will work well as a revision tool as well There's a whole series of these books if they're all like this one I'd recommend them for whatever you're studying

As a dyslexia I found this book good and easy to read the pages are a good size so you can read and but the book down and go back to it but because the book have pages which are glossy it makes it annoying with reading good graphics and colour

I've always been interested in why people behave as they do so this was a good book for me to read It does what you'd expect and does it well and thoroughly It's of a reference book really I certainly didn't understand everything I read but enough sunk in to make me feel it was worthwhile My favourite bit was the lecturer who had a guy attend all his lectures encased in a black bag His students reacted with hostility at first but gradually came to tolerate and then actually like the mysterious intruder The experiment showed that we tend to react initially with suspicion to people who seem very different from us but once we get to know them it's fine I liked thatTook a while but I'm glad I read it

They tell you enough to get a grip of the basics and start your thought processesA few friends who are teachers use them for their classesIf you're a beginner you'll benefit there's just a limit of how much depth you can go into if you spend one page on a concept idea or person

Approaching this non fiction title with no former knowledge of theoretical psychology DK explained complicated concepts incredibly well making it an easy enjoyable readThe book acts as a good reference point for people who are either interested in psychology or are perhaps currently studying the subject at A LevelEach topic is outlined with a brief history the key concepts and a biography of the relevant psychologistThis is one of many books which are available to purchase in the seriesOn a side note I brought this for my kindle and for a visual led book with diagrams and decorative features the formatting came out uite well
